I am also BEYOND glad I did not rush this piece and left it till after the holiday to work on o___o


SO This here is my part of a trade with Fenmiu
He requested an image of his new Kuro OC, Jun/Yan in this sinister sort-of setting and pose
This image took a lot of planning, I must say XD

I tried drawing it…last week, I think, but found I was VERY unhappy with the pose I drafted/general form/overall crappiness of the first attempt I had made of it. I also had no clue how to salvage it with color so I scraped it
After taking some time to veg, especially over Easter, I decided to tackle it again.

And I am much happier with this attempt

I changed the shot, and instead of doing a mid-close up, went with a medium shot (as it gave me more room to work with while making things less awkward and big). Looks much better, as it gave me more time to work on the hair, and also include the braid (which took a while but was well worth it XD)
Originally I had the demons’ hands resting on Jun’s shoulders, but felt it’d look neater to have them almost clawing him into the darkness. It changes the dynamic of the image, and fits better with the theme. I am also REALLY impressed with the coloring and lighting I did here XD -dunnohowexactlyIdiditbuthey!Ididitnonetheless-

My favorite thing, though, is the expression. This did not change from one design to the next, because I knew what I wanted to do with it

The point here, though, was to still make it look like one face with a skewed expression, BUT if you cover one face from the other, you do see the separate personalities clearly enough! SO MUCH FUN WHOOOT!

Overall...I really liked drawing this XD
